Announced at the Senjo Grading last week, Sempai Lars Eriksson was awarded the right to wear a Bushidō Cross. This morning we took the opportunity to present Sempai Lars with his pendant which is a visible recognition of his dedication to the Anderson Bushi Kai family. We welcome Lars to the Bushidō brotherhood of male Black Belts, which runs in parallel with the Ishoa sisterhood of female Black Belts. With deep respect,Kaichō Glen 🙏🏻

Prep for Black Belt

The pressure is on with just one week until Sempai Lars Eriksson grades for Black Belt and young William going for his Green Belt. We had our last park training session yesterday (pictured), and Sempai Kit Kat spent some of class coaching Sempai Lars on the grade kata Seiinchin (Lull Before the Storm). 2025-06-14 Sempai Kit Kat and Sempai Lars Kudos also to Josh Standfast taking William through his grade kata - Ido Kihon Waza, and the other three kata from his previous levels. Award announcement – Sempai Lars

On Saturday we took a few moments at the end of class to recognise and reward one of our most loyal and hardworking students - Lars Eriksson - with the title of Sempai (Mentor). Lars would have to me our most consistent student. He’s shown true leadership qualities: consistent dedication to being on the floor, dedicated to training, support to his fellow students, willingness to take on responsibility, and awareness of safety risks. These alone would qualify him for the award, but taken in the context of facing the challenges of finance, and taking care of a spouse with chronic health issues; it makes him stand out from the crowd. Sempai Lars - continue to shine. We look forward to sharing your future

ABK Coloured Belt Grading Results

Congratulations to William from our dōjō who graded for 8th Kyū Blue Belt today. He received special mention from the grading chanter Oshinden Peter for his high standard of performance. Students and Grading Panel Every event also has a team of people who are the backbone of the day, and today was no exception. Sempai Kit Kat and Lars came along and helped prepare Will to grade, operate our cameras, assist on grading panels, and whatever else was needed to help the day run smoothly. Thank you both! Before our recent holidays, the first grading of 2024 was held on 24 March at Brassall State School near Ipswich. Congratulations to our students who graded and attained new ranks on the day. Tari Sibanda achieved 5th Kyū Green Belt Brown Bar. Tari Sibanda 5th Kyū … And John Smith is now only two gradings away from Black Belt, achieving 2nd Kyū Brown Belt Black Bar. It was an outstanding day for us of ABK Tornado Dojos yesterday with four of our students grading and achieving new levels in themselves, and the style.
