On Saturday we took a few moments at the end of class to recognise and reward one of our most loyal and hardworking students – Lars Eriksson – with the title of Sempai (Mentor).

Lars would have to me our most consistent student. He’s shown true leadership qualities: consistent dedication to being on the floor, dedicated to training, support to his fellow students, willingness to take on responsibility, and awareness of safety risks.

These alone would qualify him for the award, but taken in the context of facing the challenges of finance, and taking care of a spouse with chronic health issues; it makes him stand out from the crowd.

Sempai Lars – continue to shine. We look forward to sharing your future achievements with you.
